Picosure Laser Tattoo Removal Procedure (Before and After Photos)
If getting a tattoo for the first time makes you want to punch the person next to you, then getting a tattoo removal is a bloodbath. I didn’t feel something when I had my spinal anesthesia, it was a piece of cake. I had almost five trials before the anesthesiologist hit the right spot (it was my fault anyway). The after effect of the laser removal was worse than a heartbreak. It felt as though I was being skinned alive.
It took me months before finally deciding to undergo a tattoo laser removal. Honestly, I don’t have any regrets about my tattoos. I’ve had my tattoos for years and grew accustomed to them. But as you grow older, you have to adjust to the demands of your society and prioritize your career plans. And my career plan includes applying for a job that requires me to be tattoo-free.
Last year, I was curious about a pain-free laser tattoo removal cream that targets pigmented blood cells. It claims to be painless and cheaper as compared to the total cost of tattoo removal in some derm clinics. The problem with tattoo removal creams is that it’s quite a challenge to determine which one is really effective and won’t damage your skin.
When I first visited Oroderm in Gaisano South, I was recommended to try Rev Lite laser treatment. They didn’t have PicoSure treatment at that time and Rev Lite was the best option. I had a consultation and was told that I might have to undergo ten sessions for my tattoos to be completely invisible. The tattoo removal cost using Rev Lite treatment is 8000php per session with a 1-month interval. It is economical as compared to Picosure.
PicoSure was introduced last year. As stated on its website, “it delivers ultra-short pulses of energy to shatter tattoo ink and skin spots resulting in greater clearance faster, in fewer treatments with improved recovery time.” It’s popular because it’s not just for removing tattoos but basically removing acne scars and even lightening dark nipples. The Belo Medical Group gained the highest number of patients who underwent Picosure laser treatment. I didn’t choose to have my tattoo removal laser at Belo Medical Group because I was afraid of the extra charges. Instead, I went to Oroderm and was welcomed by Dr. Niel Oropeza.

Choosing your type of anesthesia
I was given two options: applying numbing cream or injecting a local anesthetic. I chose an anesthetic cream and until now I still blame myself for not doing my research properly. Unfortunately, the cream didn’t completely numb my tattooed skin.
The assistants applied cream and wrapped the tattooed area with plastic or Saran wrap an hour before the procedure. This is necessary since the heat will help activate the cream.
I decided to have the local anesthesia injection for my last laser tattoo removal. The doctor needed to inject almost thirty shots for this area. The shots were a bit painful yet tolerable. It was very effective in making the whole procedure pain-free, making me regret why I chose the cream during the first three procedures.
Here’s a video of the procedure
Laser and chilled air
Swelling after the laser treatment; pain level: 10/10
Almost ten to twenty minutes after the laser treatment, the throbbing pain seemed unbearable. I took pain relievers and applied cream before wrapping them with plastic. I went to a gig and drank alcohol after my laser tattoo removal. I felt fantastic. Believe me, the alcohol was a big help.
Things to expect right after the laser treatment:
redness on the tattooed area
Day 2: The trick is to never touch the area; the blisters are normal

Why I love PicoSure
- Though it’s not economical, the result is worth it.
- The blisters are temporary; after three or four weeks they’re completely gone
- PicoSure’s results are faster than RevLite’s. Many doctors claim that a PicoSure session is equivalent to ten Revlite sessions
- PicoSure is safer since laser pulses were shortened to within a trillionth of a second
Although you cannot deny the fact that undergoing a Picosure laser treatment is a bit expensive (considering the fact that you need to pay 36000php per session including the cream that you need to use right after the procedure), the results are satisfactory. If you’re living in Davao, I recommend Dermhaus and look for Dr. Neil Oropeza. He’s very professional and is very transparent about the charges. He can explain and provide specific details that you need to know about PicoSure.
Having your tattoos removed might break your heart. It broke mine. My first PicoSure laser tattoo removal experience was painful yet refreshing. It felt as though I’ve survived long backpack trails, going to the bathroom without your favorite book, or BOREDOM. May I live forever.
I already finished my third Picosure session. You can view the before and after photos and compare the results here.

About The Blog
This blog is a reflection of my struggles to stay sober, creative and relevant for the past eight years. I deal with my very minor (perhaps imaginary) social anxieties through blogging about beauty products that I bought compulsively and conquering awkward feelings whenever I face the camera to awkwardly share my fashion outfits.
It's orgasmic to finally let go of my thoughts and live different lives. Adios. May you find solace in other realms of the universe.
